In 2013, we saw a dramatic decrease in behavior issues pertaining to this group of 6th Graders. In addition, we saw an increase in academic growth and mastery. The life skills and tools that were introduced to our students allowed them to build a capacity for great leadership, social entrepreneurship, and active citizenship. The CLF program empowered our youth and gave them opportunities to explore themselves and each other on a profound level.

Program Deatils

Because of the support of Chicago CRED, these 1,100 teens had incredible experiences within and beyond their neighborhood.

On August 2, more than 1,000 teens in the Peacemakers and CAPS program initiatives attended a White Sox game at Guaranteed Rate Field, thanks to the generosity of the Chicago White Sox and Chicago CRED. A select group of teens had the chance to go on the field before the game and yell “play ball!” Watch this video to hear about the experience from teens!

On August 7, representatives from each of the 47 After School Matters Peacemakers programs showcased their summer projects at a peace fair on Daley Plaza. Teens shared their vision for peace and the steps their program took toward that goal with hundreds of community members. Two more programs joined the celebration with dance performances on the plaza.
